Sometimes you just feel like a kid........

This week has just been dragging!!! Finally Wednesday is here and Christmas Eve is tomorrow! :)

My mom, Lisa Jolie, Mimi, Hunter and Gavin came up to the Grove Park yesterday! The boys even my mother went sledding all afternoon! Ha! Jesse bought the boys two sleds (like the only two left in Asheville) and they went to town! So fun! We all had a nice dinner at Bistro and then told ghost stories about the "pink lady" when we got back to the Grove Park! ScArY!!!!!

I'm packing up my life again this morning and heading to Charlotte after work! I can't wait to spend the holidays with my family and sharing this first Christmas as a married couple with my husband! *Love you*

Merry Christmas!!!

We Arrived. . . .

Jesse and I got home today around 12:30pm to TONS of snow! We couldn't even pull into our driveway! Our first mission.... get through 13 inches of snow by foot and find a shovel! Everywhere is out of shovels.... We go to Walgreens at the bottom of our hill and the manager let us borrow his. We get in the car after the shovel and buying some food and STUCK! Jesse spends the next 20 minutes digging his car out of the snow so we can make it back up the hill to our house just to spend another hour shoveling our driveway.

We are in and warm now! Thank goodness! Tomorrow starts a three day week then Christmas!

Winter Storm 2009

Jesse and I always seem to miss the snow! Charlotte, NC seemed to get all the snow last year and Asheville got very little and the official big snow storm of 2009 hit Asheville today and we weren't there!!!

I have heard tons of stories and seen so many pictures of the beautiful snow! I'm so jealous! All I want to do is go get a sled and enjoy the white stuff! So much for this snow storm... maybe next year!

Christmakuh

This will be our first "Christmakuh" event being married this year. Hanukkah began at sundown on December 11, 2009 and will continue for 8 days.

Hanukkah 101:
The Hanukkah story is...In 168 B.C.E. the Jewish Temple was seized by Syrian-Greek soldiers. A Greek officer ordered Mattathias, a High Priest, to worship only to the Greek gods, but Mattathias refused. Mattathias and other Jews fought against the Greeks and took back Palestine from the Greeks. Jewish troops wanted to purify the Temple by burning ritual oil in the Temple’s menorah for eight days. They discovered that there was only one day's worth of oil left in the Temple. They lit the menorah anyway and to their surprise the small amount of oil lasted the full eight days. This is the miracle of the Hanukkah oil that is celebrated every year when Jews light a special menorah for eight days. One candle is lit on the first night of Hanukkah, two on the second, and so on, until eight candles are lit. Because many Jews live in predominately Christian societies, over time Hanukkah has become much more festive and Christmas-like. Jewish children receive gifts for Hanukkah – often one gift for each of the eight nights of the holiday. Many parents hope that by making Hanukkah extra special their children won't feel left out of all the Christmas festivities going on around them. (http://judaism.about.com/od/holidays/a/hanukkah.htm)

Jesse and I have been celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas in our lives since we have known each other. We both feel this is a special time in our lives and can't wait to extend this tradition of celebrating both with our future children. Celebrating both traditions comes the name "Christmakuh."

Happy Christmakuh to you and your families... Love The Ordans!!

Changing My Name . . .

As everyday passes the closer I know the day is coming that my marriage license will arrive and I go from a Motley to an Ordan. (*Insert --> Panic Attack*) I can't explain why this is such a challenging obstacle in my life at the moment. I LOVE Jesse why wouldn't I want to have his last name??? This is such a beautiful tradition that has been around for years. Why do I have a problem with this? I have been debating this for weeks! I honestly didn't think twice about it before the wedding but it has been on my mind ever since. Motley just defines who I am as a person. It is how I am recognized, it identifies my family and it is all I have known for 27 years of my life. How do I just change that after a few hours and saying "I do?"
I don't want to upset Jesse by not changing to his name (he may not even care) but it is tradition. Every woman I know has changed their name. I know I can't even ask Jesse to take my name. . . yeah right!! So I guess this just leads me to realize that I am now Jesse's wife, Mrs. Ordan, "Mrs" and a married woman!
If it is so easy to become a "Mrs" then why does it take so long to legally change your last name??? I'm dreading this part! Not only do I have to re-structure my name so I can have four names appear on my social security card but I have to stand in lines for hours! I have to change my social security card, driver's license, credit cards, debit cards and etc! If I can become Mrs. Jesse Ordan by just saying "I do" then Jesse will be standing right next to me while I stand in these long lines and being on the phone with customer service. My pain is his pain right?!?!? :) I'm loving this marriage already!!

CoLd

I'm not ready for cold weather yet!!! Asheville still dips in the 60s and last weekend in Charlotte it reached 80!!! Now I'm in Dubuque, IA and its freezing!!!! I can't deal with being cold. I hope this is a quick and mild winter... STAY WARM!!!!!

November 16, 2009

Away From Home

I hate staying in hotels alone... it is the worst! I'm in Dubuque, IA for five days and four nights. I need my blanket, my pillow, my husband along with our white noise machine.. don't forget xienna licking herself all night in the background and nemo tucked away next to me! awww.... I want home!

Charlotte, NC to Dubuque, IA

I'm off to Iowa in the AM! I think I love this traveling thing... it keeps you busy that is for sure! I'll work in Asheville for three days next week then it will be Thanksgiving! :)
I have never been to Iowa before... I heard they have lots of corn fields! Ha!

Next on the Agenda. . . .

Everyone knows about the constant state of drama the past 14 of months have been while Jesse and I were engaged. We are finally married so you would think the drama would disappear... NOPE! It has gotten worse. It has not only affected Jesse and myself but also his family, my family, Providence Country Club, and Magnolia Events. I can't even name all the individuals throughout this time that were personally involved as well.
After telling the story multiple times leaving people with the dropped jaw face, literal shock, and laughing so hard they cry I have decided to maybe put this story on paper. People keep telling me that I'm a great story teller and just make the story come alive everytime I tell it. I've always wanted to write a Lifetime Movie so maybe a book is my first attempt! CrAzY I KnOw!!! I'm going to see what just comes out as I type. Wish me luck! :)

November 13, 2009

Charlotte is now really possible......

I have great news!!!! Jesse has applied for a position back in Charlotte, NC!! Hopefully we will hear back soon and before we know it we will be back!! I'm not really sure how quickly i'll move but we are def. on the right track. :) I have never been so excited! I can't wait to move back to the one place I have been dying to get back to.... my hometown, my friends, good food, my family and an exciting city!!!! I LOVE CHARLOTTE!! Please keep your fingers crossed! We could be back before Christmas!

Have a wonderful day!! TGIF!

Responsible Husband

What exactly is a responsible husband??? Being in a relationship for 6 years Jesse has been the same way from day # 1. He loves to watch tv, he collects cups by his bed from his "bedtime water," he cleans when he is upset, he never moves items around when looking for something... it just should be in his face, and he can't remember anything within the last 5 minutes someone has said. Now you are thinking how have I put up with this for so long!!! Well all these little things (except for the memory) are things that just make Jesse who he is and are what I love about him. I can always count on the cups being there, having the tv on in the background, and finding something for him because he can't.

Now that I'm Mrs. Ordan things have changed with Jesse. I have been asking him about looking for a new job, updating his resume, and even applying for a job! Jesse had an extra 3 days off after our honeymoon while I went back to work. Surprise Surprise ... he updated his resume and applied for a job in Charlotte, NC all in one day!!! I fell in love all over again! I asked how/why he did that without me bringing it up again and he said "i'm trying to be a more responsible husband."

Love Him!

Wedding Bliss

I have been married for 17 days.... this newlywed life has been fantastic! Jesse and I have just been the happiest we have in awhile. No more wedding worries, details or drama to deal with. We still are living a crazy lifestyle with running to Raleigh two days after our honeymoon to see baby Lyric being born and then I'm off to Charlotte for just the day for a party for the cure!

Jesse and I have had road trips together already and have even seen the Yankees win the World Series in our Yankee sweatshirts! We are so excited for our new adventures ahead.

Lyric Bradley Miller

Baby Lyric was born on 11/6 at 2:04PM weighing 9.5 lbs!! HUGE baby!! Jesse and I rushed to Raleigh on Thursday for his arrival. After about 30 hours being at Rex Hospital and 2 hours of hard labor they finally performed a C-Section. We all got to see Lyric around 6:00pm and even Kristina!!! It was so wonderful to see that little chubby face of Lyric and to see that Kristina was doing better. The Miller family is one of our best friends and we are so excited to watch Lyric grow up! Congrats to the family! (Let's hope Jesse gets on baby fever.... hahahahaha) :)

Reality Check

Charlote... Wedding... Honeymoon... Asheville...

Today didn't start out right... I didn't change the clocks back when I got home last night so my alarm went off at 4am instead of 5am! That 4am alarm kept me in bed until 7am then I could hardly get out of bed to get ready for work. Finally I made it out the door to work and half way to work my crack in my windshield seemed to grow while I was gone for two weeks... well it completely cracked across my ENTIRE windshield when I suddenly slammed on the breaks. That will be a $100.00 deductible to get it fixed! Poop!

Today was my first day back at work after being off for two weeks! I was excited to see everyone but dreading to be back in that environment. I tried to stay positive all day and not get stressed out. The day felt like it was crawling! Finally around 1pm my husband came to take me to lunch! That helped break up the day. Weird... my husband right???

Now I'm on the couch watching Game 6 of the World Series! Go Yankees!

November 02, 2009

Home Sweet Home

We are home! Our flight actually came in early! I spent the whole night talking to my parents and then went to visit Lisa! I'm still hearing stories from the wedding! I'm just so excited to see our video! :) Memories..... Back to reality on Wednesday!

Feelings on Halloween

I actually like being in the DR and not the USA for Halloween this year! I'm usually home alone while my now husband would be working. Being in the hotel business his shifts are usually until 11pm. :( Boo! The normal Halloween activity would happen at my parent's house in Charlotte, NC where I would hand out candy to the kids. Now that I live in Asheville, NC I was told not to open the door to the kids and turn out the lights! Last year was pretty boring being at home with no candy to pass out or just to eat myself!
Being in the DR I thought maybe we would even forget that it was Halloween on our honeymoon... yea right!!! This whole resort has gone nuts about Halloween! Even our cruise boat today had decorations like crazy and the crew had on costumes. I doubt I'll forget its Halloween... but if your going to go all crazy and decorate you should never forget about candy! I don't see candy anywhere around this resort! I need my sugar fix! :) I'm on the search.... don't forget about Game 3 tonight!! Go Yankees!

October 29, 2009

I'll Always Have The Motley Crew

As of October 24, 2009 my last name went from Motley to Ordan. Who would have thought that after being in a relationship for 5 years, engaged for 14 months and then saying "I Do" that you would accept what was going to happen. NOT TRUE!! I'm still having trouble letting go of the "Motley." My mother's speech at the wedding couldn't have said it better... "you will always have the Motley crew." Which brings me to another thought.. what about just hyphenating my last name to Motley-Ordan??? I can't do it! I would have the longest name ever! I don't even want to think about my children having to carry that around either. So after 5 days of marital bliss and still on my honeymoon I haven't been called "Mrs. Ordan" has of yet. I will be waiting.... until then I'm watching the Yankees kick some serious Philly butt!! Night!
